Section 1 - Purpose and Scope
(1) This Guideline supports the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and Community Service Policy.
Top of PageSection 2 - Standing of Faith or Community Bodies
(2) The following will be considered when assessing the suitability of faith or community bodies for UQ standing:
- Any previous standing granted by UQ or other universities and associated activity;
- The broad position and reputation of the body in Australian Society;
- Recognition by the:
- Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
- Australian Business Register
- Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission;
- The likelihood of relevance of the faith or community body for the UQ Community; and
- Demonstration of the body’s ability, capacity, and willingness to embrace and abide by the requirements of the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and Community Service Policy.
Top of PageSection 3 - Appointment of Chaplains
(3) The following will be considered when assessing applications to be a UQ Chaplain:
- The person must be nominated by a faith or community body that has current UQ standing;
- Any previous appointment of the person by UQ or other universities and associated activity;
- Demonstration of reputable character and good standing of the person;
- The likelihood that the person would contribute positively to the UQ Community; and
- Demonstration of the person’s ability, capacity, and willingness to embrace and abide by the requirements of the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and Community Service Policy.
